Please join the ABA Section of Antitrust Law at the Kowloon Shangri-La for our next Global Seminar Series. Please note this Series precedes the Hong Kong Competition Commission?s Competition Exchange so there are two great reasons to be in Hong Kong this October. With antitrust trials set to become a new chapter in Hong Kong?s competition enforcement regime, the ABA Antitrust Section is pleased to present its Global Seminar Series focused on antitrust trials. A terrific panel of antitrust trial lawyers will share lessons and practice tips for proving and defending antitrust violations at trial. Developing strong themes to anchor the fact-finder to your side, focusing witness testimony (percipient and expert witnesses) on the right facts and concepts to tell a more compelling and persuasive story, and choosing the right documents from a mountain of pretrial evidence are all key factors for success at trial. These lawyers will explain how they do it, and win. We will also hear about the Commission’s recently completed antitrust trial; its first. Our programming with commence with remarks from the new DOJ Antitrust Director of Criminal Litigation, Andre M. Geverola. We hope you will join us!

The US Supreme Court has called cartels "the supreme evil of antitrust." Price fixing and bid rigging may not be all that evil as far as supreme evils go, but an individual can get 10 years in jail and corporations can be fined hundreds of millions of dollars. This blog will provide news, insight and analysis of the world of cartels based on the many years my colleagues and I have as former feds with the Antitrust Division, USDOJ.
